After months of scientific development, the UK has become the first country in the world to offer the covid-19 vaccination

The NHS is rolling out vaccinations by risk group to ensure that those most vulnerable, and at risk of contracting the virus, are contacted and offered vaccinations as a priority.

Bearwood Medical Centre is working through the criteria to ensure the the vaccines are offered to all eligible patients.

The groups currently eligible are:

  • Patients aged 80 and over

  • Care home workers

  • High-risk health care workers

If you are eligible for an early stage vaccination, you will be contacted directly when your vaccine is available.

The NHS is working hard to ensure that vaccinations are rolled out to patients as efficiently as possible

Bearwood Medical Centre is currently contacting our patients by risk group in accordance with NHS England’s order of cohorts.

If you are 75 years or over, you may have already been contacted by us to be invited for your vaccination, otherwise you will be receiving a call soon.

IMPORTANT. Please make sure we have your up-to-date contact details on our records so that we can contact you. You can submit your phone number to us using the form on the Contact Us page.

To ensure continued safety, vaccinations are being given at appointed COVID Vaccination sites/centres. Patients at Bearwood Medical Centre are being invited to:

Portway Lifestyle Centre in Oldbury for their vaccination.

There is a car park on site with free parking available for patients who have booked in, as well as wheel chair access into the building.

What happens at your Appointment

When you attend your appointment, please ensure that you bring a face-covering (unless you cannot wear one for a health or disability reason) and your NHS Number if you know it. If you have a carer, they can accompany you to the appointment.

When you enter the building, you will be asked for your name and appointment time at the reception desk.

You will then be directed into the main hall, to one of the nurse’s stations where you may be asked a few details and then given the vaccine.

Once you have received your vaccine, you will be asked to rest in the seated area for 15 minutes before leaving.

You will also be given an appointment card, leaflet and infomation sheet about what to expect after your vaccination.
